SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
MENTOR PROGRAM
During the shooting of every film, we will identify and select 25 students and early career young adults (approx. ages 16-25) to receive an all-day, one-day visit to the shoot location with all access. Mentees will be selected by local educational and social service organizations within the main location community. We will select diverse candidates with a range of backgrounds who are considered in need in some capacity. Selectees will receive instruction, mentorship and have their questions answered by the film’s producers, cast and crew throughout the day.
WORDS FROM OUR ALUMNI
ALYSSA YOU
CFI MENTEE 2020
My experience on the set of "Life After You" was nothing short of amazing; the entire cast and crew was extremely kind and welcoming. The most memorable part of my experience was getting to form a connection with Sarah Schwab who has become a strong role model and inspiration to me as an aspiring female filmmaker.
JAMES MATTHEWS
CFI MENTEE 2020
The set of “Life after you” was an amazing experience to watch be made. I loved meeting people who have dedicated so much of their time into making sure this movie is perfect. I now feel like movies are taken for granted by how much work is put in just so someone can enjoy it. Understanding how the equipment worked and talking to people who have been in multiple movies or shows was very inspiring because they chased their dreams and now they are living them.

Due to SAG Covid-19 regulations, CFI's Mentor program was put on pause from 2021-2023.
We are looking forward to continuing our Mentor program in 2024.
WOMEN DIRECTOR PROGRAM
During the shooting of every film, we will identify and select two early career women filmmakers to receive an all-day, two-week visit to the shoot location. Selectees will be chosen by the producers based on program applications received from interested candidates. Selectees will shadow the film’s director for the entirety of their visit.
EMERGING PRODUCER PROGRAM
At the outset of every project, we will identify and select two early career producers to join the producer team for the film. Selectees will be chosen by the producers based on program applications received from interested candidates. Selectees will participate on all producer calls and attend all of the days of the film shoot.
VOLUNTEERISM
We dedicate time and resources to people and non-profits in need. This usually surrounds screenings of our films, followed by talkbacks and social events to engage and support our communities. An example of our efforts include screenings of Life After You, where we have collaborated with community partners that specialize in addiction prevention, education and recovery so that we may engage viewers in meaningful conversations.
GENDER PARITY & DIVERSITY
As with all Cardinal Flix productions, gender equity and ethnic/racial diversity is an integral part of assembling the cast and crew for each production.
